How do buildings fit in with these type of Churches?

Jesus clearly told His Disciples to go and  make disciples of all nations.

For us to accomplish the task that Jesus has asked us then we need to see the number of disciples and Churches not only growing but multiplying.

When thinking about the role of buildings in fulfilling the great commission we need to ask ourselves this question – “Is what we are doing able to reproduce and multiply?” Buildings are not evil or wrong. But so often they represent the centralised mindset that seeks to draw people into “our Church”. For us to see the great commission we need to adopt a “decentralised” mindset which sees disciples sent out rather than drawn in.

So how do buildings fit in with these type of Churches? Well they are definitely not essential. And this issue along with a whole host of other issues need to be examined in the light of Jesus’ command to disciple the nations.

Neil Cole shares some thoughts about buildings on his blog here. There are also some helpful comments at the bottom  of Neil’s article.
