regional gathering at Chepstow Feb 28th

If you live within reach of Chepstow and would like to get together with others doing simple/organic church then this is to let you know about an upcoming event on Feb the 28th called, ‘Breathing Space’.

The aim of the Breathing Space is to gather together people involved in these forms of church, to encourage and network, share ideas and discuss some of the issues that we are facing. We are hoping that this will be the first of many of these Breathing Space gatherings and we have tried to pick a venue that would be at a fairly central point.
This Breathing Space gathering will be taking place at the Bulwark Community Centre in Chepstow. As this is the first gathering we want to simply meet up and touch base with you. It would be great to share our stories and struggles and hopefully, all leave feeling encouraged.

We have therefore tried to keep the day fairly simple.
Beginning at 10:30 we will have a rolling start with ample time to meet and chat with each other.
Lunch at 12:00
Swap shop at 12:30 a chance to share ideas for various projects, or things that have helped us etc.
Coffee 1:30
Discussion time 1:45
Prayer
Aim to finish at around 3:30pm.

If you have any particular resources which could be shown during the day, please bring them. We hope to have some books etc available also.

salvation army simple churches

The Salvation Army have never been afraid to try something new for the sake of the Gospel. In a rough area of Aberdeen called Torry the 614 Salvation Army Community Church have decided to send the church back into the community.

Andrew Clark, the officer responsible, told me
Our new simple church has 3 groups already...I'd say that 75% of those are unsaved people. Most of them have come through the community programme that we, as The Salvation Army, operate in the community. One group is comprised of 7 unchurched teenagers who have come into relationship with us through running a youth drop-in in partnership with the local authority. We provide a couple of volunteers to run the project, we build relationship with the youth.

Their simple churches meet weekly to eat together, worship, read the Word and reach out to others. Then all of them come together monthly for a celebration of all God has been doing amongst them.

Something is happening across Britain today: a new kind of church is beginning to appear; increasing numbers of christians (recent research suggests between 40 & 100,000) are starting to gather in homes, colleges and work places. Living out a 24-7 faith, they are missionally focused with a 'go to them' dynamic instead of a 'come to us' invitation. These communities are small, fluid, organic, reproducible and most of all simple; so simple that any believer would respond by saying "I could do that!"

The aim of this site is to connect, report and resource these new groups. If you'd like to know more check out the vision page.
