more from jayne ozanne on single cell church
"A new Church will begin to arise – a new Church in England. It will take the form of many single cell groups across the land, united in a common bond founded on grace and truth. No longer recognising denominational badges, people will look to see the mark of spirit-filled faith in each other. Rather than demanding a “king” to be appointed over them (as with Saul), this new Church will discern the God-appointed leaders who have naturally risen to positions of prominence.

This Church bears all the hallmarks of an underground movement, indeed it will fast become an underground resistance movement. It will be united in its purpose, clear in its vision, firm in its resolve and will consist of people who “do not love their lives even unto the death”. The most powerful weapon that this army wields is love – a love that conquers all, costs all and never fails!"

planting a church planting movement
A network of home churches in Andover are now beginning to see third & fourth generation church plants being established in quick succession. Having transitioned from a large congregation to a network of home churches, new growth was slow to begin with. The real change in gear has come with a focus on reaching non believers rather than unchurched believers. New believers coming into the home church environment are encouraged from day one to anticipate a gathering in their own homes drawing on their own relational network.

Coupled with this is an intentional strategy to plant several new churches simultaneously rather than one at a time. The aim is to plant a church planting movement rather than simply to add another church.

a "new church in england"
"Church faces implosion and life underground, says senior adviser.
A senior adviser to the Archbishop of Canterbury has issued an apocalyptic warning about the future of the Church of England, forecasting that Christianity in Britain will be driven underground and that the Church will fragment."

"In a private document presented this week to the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, Dr Rowan Williams and Dr David Hope, Jayne Ozanne suggested that a time of great persecution was coming."

What I found particularly fascinating in Ms Ozanne's article was her prediction that a new “Church in England” will take root at grass roots level, consisting of non- denominational cell groups throughout the country.

This sounds remarkably like the organic church planting movement which we are beginning to research via this web site.

You can hear a 6 minute BBC radio interview with Ms Ozanne here: www.bbc.co.uk/religion You will need Realplayer to download it.

welcome!
Well welcome finally to the new Simple Church web site for the UK. We will be posting more here regularly but at present we are still testing links etc. If you have found your way here and discover any broken links then please let us know.

For more posts check out the Archives or for a specific topic use site search tool.

Something is happening across Britain today: a new kind of church is beginning to appear; increasing numbers of christians (recent research suggests between 40 & 100,000) are starting to gather in homes, colleges and work places. Living out a 24-7 faith, they are missionally focused with a 'go to them' dynamic instead of a 'come to us' invitation. These communities are small, fluid, organic, reproducible and most of all simple; so simple that any believer would respond by saying "I could do that!"

The aim of this site is to connect, report and resource these new groups. If you'd like to know more check out the vision page.
